“The Ethmoid” An irregular, cuboidal, and pneumatic bone forming the skull’s neurocranium, the ethmoid provides the basis for olfaction (smell) via its cribriform plate. In addition to its functional significance, the ethmoid contributes to the formation of the orbit, nasal septum, and the superior and lateral nasal cavity.
